A former child kidnapping victim whose case made national news is headed to Lubbock.
Elizabeth Smart is scheduled to speak at a fundraiser for the Childers's Advocacy Center of the South Plains.
Smart was abducted in 2002 and held prisoner for nine months before police returned her to her family. Since then, she has become an advocate for change related to child abduction, recovery programs, and national legislation.
The September 24th event will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Reserved seat tickets are $35, and are available through select-a-seat.
