New details from the investigation into the death of a four-month-old child Tuesday were revealed in the murder warrant for the infant's father. 19-year-old Jacob Tanguma remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
A police report outlined Tanguma's statement to a detective about the chain of events that led to his daughter's death.
It said Tanguma was fired from his job on Monday and was very stressed. The report stated that he became angry after his daughter repeatedly woke up screaming overnight.
It said Tanguma admitted to grabbing the infant's throat and squeezing very tight for a couple of seconds at one point.
When his daughter began to cry again later, the report said Tanguma pushed down hard on her torso several times. He eventually fell asleep with the child on a futon.
The report said Tanguma woke up slouched over the child. Her lips were blue, and she was limp.
LPD received a call just before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday about an infant at the Middleton Place Apartments who was not breathing. EMS paramedics transported the baby to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
