Mastering the English language is just the beginning of challenges for students from other countries who want to go to Texas Tech.
A grand opening reception helped to celebrate the university's partnership with the ELS Language Center to help them transition into the higher education system and life in America.
The president of ELS said Tech's reputation for excellence is drawing more prospective students here from around the globe.
"Texas Tech is interested to grow their international enrollment and we feel that we going to be able to increase that enrollment by about 2,000 incremental students within the next 4 years," ELS Educational Services CEO, Mark Harris, said. "So that's our objective here."
The newly renovated ELS facility is located at 1921 Broadway.
