Commissioners approve next step in renovation of old county jail

County Commissioners approved a contract to gut the old downtown jail building, which may not cost taxpayers anything. It's the next step in plans to renovate the vacant lockup at 811 Main Street.

They claimed it would not cost the taxpayers anything, then they say they will use leftover bond money. Which one is it. Are they using bond money, which has to be paid with interest, or is the cost nothing. I would like to know how much more than nothing, the contractors are going to be paid from tax or bond dollars. It is OK to renovate, but be truthful about how much the taxpayers have to cough up to pay off the bonds.
