Firefighters found a body at the scene of a blaze at the Autumn Ridge Apartments in the 2100 block of 82nd Street. On Saturday, LPD Sergeant Jonathan Stewart said due to findings at the scene, the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
LPD arrested 22-year-old Austin Hasten in connection to the incident. He is charged with murder. He is in the Lubbock County Detention Center on $3,000,000 bond.
Lubbock Fire Department responded to the call around 8 p.m. Friday. Upon entering the burning apartment, firefighters found the body of a woman. According to a crime report, the victim was 51-year-old Michele Lisa Terry.
The fire was contained to the single unit where the body was found.
