Perking up plants and keeping gardens green can be a challenge in a drought.

However, one local event features a variety of ways to out-smart climate with creative water-wise tactics.

The "Beauty in these Dry Times" Garden Tour includes seven local homes, as well as the Lubbock Arboretum, that showcase water-wise examples.

Attendees can have questions answered by gardening and landscape experts.

There will be free resources to take home including drought-tolerant plant lists, irrigation advice, mulch alternative, turf tips, benefits of permeable hardscaping, rainwater harvesting and much more.

The event is happening on Saturday, September 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
