TheLubbock Independent School District launches a dropout prevention recovery initiative called "Expectation Graduation."

Superintendent Karen Garza explains the comprehensive program includes a heavy emphasis on involving the entire community in these efforts.

Backed up by service and support agencies, volunteers and school personnel will mobilize for a special walk all over town on September 18th.

Garza said, "We're looking for volunteers to go with us in teams to go and knock on doors of young people throughout our community and invite them back into our school system. We'll provide them additional support with the help of all these helpful foundations, groups, and organizations to ensure that students that we get back in school, they finish, they get a high school diploma, and set the stage for them to be successful for many, many years to come."

The Expectation Graduation walk begins with training at LISD's central office at 7:30 am Saturday September 18th.

Participants must register in advance.
