As times changes so do gay rights across the country. The Texas Tech School of Law hosting an expo and seminar Friday, providing a chance to learn from top estate planning professionals.

One of those experts, Bill LaPiana, spoke about same-sex estate planning after recent court decisions. He said with the new changes complications are sure to follow.

LaPiana said he expects the entire gay marriage debate to die as a controversial issue within the next decade. He also believes Texas will follow suit.

"Here in Texas, the same-sex couple, even though they marry somewhere else in the United States and come back here, as far as Texas law is concerned and trusts are concerned, they're not married. So planning for them is how we always plan for unmarried couples so in that sense it hasn't changed at all."
