A man is dead following a mishap on Highway 70 in Lamb County Thursday.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. five miles west of Earth in Lamb County. DPS reported a semi-truck trailer was traveling eastbound on Highway 70, and the driver attempted to make a u-turn. The semi then got stuck on the north bar ditch, causing the trailer to block all highway lanes.

A pickup heading westbound on the highway struck the center of the trailer. The driver, 76-year-old Bobby James Black, of Muleshoe, died at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
