More than a thousand students turned their tassles Tuesday at Texas Tech's Health Sciences Center.
This year's commencement combined students from the school of medicine, nursing, allied health sciences, pharmacy and the graduate school of biomedical sciences. Dr. Tedd Mitchell, president of TTUHSC, said the ceremony marked many firsts for the school.
"In our university, we actually have seven different schools and this is the first commencement where we've had the first graduates from the Paul Foster School of Medicine and the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing in El Paso, so we're proud to have them here as well," Mitchell said.
The ceremony also honored the first Ph.D. awarded in rehabilitation sciences and the first graduating class of the family medicine accelerated track.
