Governor Rick Perry made a couple of campaign stops in the area Monday on behalf of State Representative Jim Landtroop.
Landtroop and Perry greeted voters at the Broadway Brew in downtown Plainview and the Honeycomb Pie Shop in Levelland. Landtroop is an incumbent trying to keep a seat in the legislature in the newly revamped District 88.
“He is a proven fiscal and social conservative,” Governor Perry said. “That is what this is really about. This isn't about being against anyone. This is about an individual I know and I trust who has been a great partner.”
This was also the first day of early voting. You have through Friday to cast an early ballot. Election Day is next Tuesday, July 31st.
Landtroop is facing Ken King of Canadian in the District 88 runoff. The winner will get the seat since there's no democratic candidate to run in November.
