A professor from Penn State has been named the new dean of Texas Tech's Whitacre College of Engineering.
Dr. Elizabeth Dickey begins her duties January 1st.
Provost Bob Smith says she was one of 56 candidates to apply for the job.
Dickey currently is a professor of materials science and engineering, and the associate director of the materials research institute at Penn State.
She received a bachelor's degree in materials engineering from the University of Kentucky and a doctorate in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University.
