Cruelty to livestock charges have been filed in an investigation into a Panhandle cattle operation.

Prosecutors issue state jail felony warrants for five former workers at the E-6 Cattle Company, located near the Castro County community of Hart. The owner and the foreman each face a Class A misdemeanor livestock cruelty charge.

The sheriff's office started the investigation in April after receiving clandestinely-shot video footage and a report submitted by a group called Mercy for Animals, based out of Chicago.
