Council's expected to consider buying a property that sits in the way of efforts to widen Milwaukee Avenue.
The problem is there are 14 more just like it, and owners of those parcels still haven't come to an agreement with the city.
City reps say it's not an issue council members are taking lightly.
Chief Operations Officer Marsha Reed says the homes and properties are basically inside a playa lake at 98th and Milwaukee and report the city must take ownership because of the potential for flooding - a problem that could be made worse by the future road construction.
"The roadway, we're not going to build it through the lake," Reed said. "We're gonna raise the roadway up to keep it from being in the water, so when we raise it up three or four feet in the air to try to get slopes and driveway access back to those homes is impossible."
The widening will take place along Milwaukee from 94th to 114th streets.
Construction's set to begin in about a year.
Right now, the city's working to get appraisals for all the properties so there are no final cost estimates available yet.
