Two members of City Council want to tap into expertise from the community on all issues oil and gas.

Council members Todd Klein and Latrell Joy proposed a resolution that would create a nine-member oil and gas citizen advisory committee to delve into the city's options concerning oil and gas exploration, development and production.

"You've got hydrology issues, so can we get somebody from the Lubbock Water Advisory Committee? Somebody from the industry? Can we get somebody from academia?" Klein said. "And I think when you do that, you can create a composite committee that's, a) well balanced, and b) well suited to address this issue."

Council will consider the resolution at Thursday's meeting.
