Miles of smiles in the county courthouse as about 25 families take part in National Adoption Day.
For 7-year-old Erika and new mom Christie it marks the first day of what they call "Forever" together.
"I get to stay!" says Erika.
Christie: "How long?"
Erika: "Forever!"
Christie: "What does forever mean? Does it ever end?"
Erika: "No."
An entire entourage in tow.
"I had two sisters here, my brother-in-law, my niece and my nephew, my mother-in-law, my uncle-in-law, my mother," says Christie.
Plus caseworkers and attorneys and most importantly,Christie's husbandwho joined them over the phone from Iraq.
"It was kind of hectic because we didn't know if we were going to be calling him or he's going to be calling us, but we finally got it through. He had to go outside because he has a few roommates and he didn't want to wake them up because it was 12:20 when we got on the phone with him there, so -- it's kind of late, but he's very excited. A little tired, but he's very excited," says Christie.
Christie was overjoyed beyond words.
"It's big. It's a big emotional process. it just such a, I don't even have words to set her life up, to know that she's going to go to college and that she's going to have a successful, productive life is just the best thing I could ever wish for her," says Christie.
Erika will be joined by another addition to the Haggard family in May. After trying for years Christie recently found out she's pregnant.
