Xcel Energy customers could soon see higher electric bills due to the increased cost of natural gas.
The company is asking Texas regulators to approve a hike in fuel charges to cover its expenses.
Gas is used to generate about 40 percent of the region's electricity.
Xcel customers who use a thousand kilowatt hours per month will pay a $1.54 cents more on bills.
If approved, the fuel factor increase would go into effect June first.
