A Northwest Lubbock couple is credited with helping police nab a vehicle burglary suspect in the early hours of Monday morning.

Officers said they saw two suspects running away when they got to the crime in progress call at 5807 13th Street on Monday around 5 a.m.

Police reported a K-9 unit found 19-year-old Thomas Garcia in a tree a few blocks away.

Then dispatchers notified officers that residents of a nearby home were holding a second suspect, 24-year-old Vincent Sandoval, at gunpoint in their backyard.

Both suspects were arrested on charges of vehicle burglary, evading arrest, and criminal trespassing.

Way to go homeowners. However KVTV has their city sections in error. According to the maps and USPS the North addresses do not begin until you go north of 1st street. The city limits goes Northbound to the northern edge of the international airport. Now that is north Lubbock
