Texas Tech alums, students and supporters gathered in Austin Wednesday to lobby lawmakers for increased higher education funding.
Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance told these Red Raiders about the importance of impressing upon state legislators that it's been a struggle balancing fewer funds with more students.
"What we need for you to emphasize today is formula funding," Hance said. "We're hoping that we can make sure that the formula funding, and this effects all students, that's the most important thing for us. We went through the last, the bind that we're in right now, we got $67 million less and we had 2,000 more students."
Texas Tech Day at the state capitol is sponsored by the Texas Tech Alumni Association and is held every other spring.
