The field will likely grow, but we know of two people in the running for the Texas Senate seat vacated by Robert Duncan.
Jodey Arrington has announced his candidacy for Senate District 28. Arrington is a former Texas Tech vice chancellor and former senior advisor to President George W. Bush.
According to his campaign literature, Arrington grew up in Plainview and is a Texas Tech alumnus. He worked for Mr. Bush when he was governor, then was promoted to special assistant to President Bush when he took office in Washington.
Duncan told us earlier this week it's likely Governor Perry will call a special election for November. Duncan said it'll take some time for candidates to raise money and travel the expansive 51-county district.
