The Texas Boys Ranch broke ground on a new Education and Therapeutic Recreation Center Friday, continuing its expansion mission.
The new center is one of three projects included in the ranch's $2 million "Building Hearts, Minds, and Bodies" campaign.
Executive Director Sam Sigel said the new facility will be a centerpiece of activity for the children living at the Boys Ranch.
"Our kiddos come to us behind academically, significantly often times," Sigel said, "and this facility is not only going to provide classroom structure, but it's also going to provide some state of the art equipment."
Texas Boys Ranch is currently constructing an eight-stall horse barn on the property as well.
According to the organization's website, the ranch is home to 32 abused and neglected children ranging in age from 3 to 18.
