Lubbock City Council members could move closer to regulating the sale of synthetic marijuana and similar substances in their Monday evening meeting.
Consideration of the regulatory options available is on the executive and work session agendas. Council members asked the city legal staff to give them an overview of the range of possibilities, including an outright ban.
Mayor Glen Robertson says he hopes staffers can draw up a potential ordinance for council to consider at its meeting after Christmas. The Council has already ordered the city's health board to study the dangers of synthetic marijuana and educating the public about them.
The Monday evening meeting begins at 6:15.
