A Slaton man receives a life sentence after pleading to aggravated sexual assault of a child, just as his trial on multiple counts began.
Gary White, 55, of Slaton, changed his plea to guiltyTuesday and is sentenced to life in prison for the crimes.
White pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child. He'll have to serve 30 years before he's eligible for parole. Four victims testified Monday that they were sexually abused multiple times by White.
White said he didn't want his wife to hear anymore victims relate how they were sexually assaulted by him.
"Each of the victims that came forward spent multiple decades and years and they were very courageous in their ability to make public what had happened to them," said A.D.A. Morgan Vaughan.
"It was good in this particular day for all of the victims and all of the families involved to have some closure so that they can put this beside them, put it behind them, move forward and continue on with their lives," said A.D.A. Jaret Greaser.
More victims were scheduled to testify Tuesday before White pulled the plug on his defense. White will be 85 before he's eligible for parole.
