Longtime Lubbock broadcast journalist and former Lubbock ISD spokesman Skip Watson has died at the age of 68.
Watson's career spanned for more than four decades included serving as news director at KCBD-TV in the 1980's and 90's. He retired as communications director for the Lubbock Independent School District in 2005.
Watson's genuine commitment to the community extended beyond his professional life, with volunteer leadership and involvement. He launched the South Plains Food Bank's U-Can Share Food Drive in 1983.
Watson was a deeply respected colleague and mentor to many in our business and will indeed be missed.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.
