A Shallowater man is in custody, accused of striking his four-month-old daughter and causing multiple bruises.

According to the warrant, 29 year-old Kevin Bradley Couch struck his infant daughter causing bruising on both sides of her face, mouth and back. The child's mother came home and discovered the injuries.

Police reports say Couch claimed the baby fell out of her swing. Couch is being held at the Lubbock County Detention center on a $100,000 bond.  He was convicted of injury to a child in 2010 in Randall County.

Before you jump to conclusions, you should ask whether the mom even knew about the previous conviction. Had she known, she wouldn't have left the child.
