State Representative Charles Perry, (R) Lubbock, said Monday the federal government's sequestration will affect Texas directly and our most vulnerable citizens and military population could be the ones affected most.
His biggest concern was the domino effect this could have on the economy. He said "the sales tax revenue or collections is our biggest revenue generator. And if consumer confidence and fear of what the federal government's doing doesn't get resolved then you could see a decline in consumer confidence and a pull back in consumer spending, which would have a direct impact on sales tax collections."
Perry added, the longer the sequester goes, the more severe the consequences will be.
