State Legislators were in Lubbock on Tuesday for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce's 25th Annual Legislative Appreciation Luncheon.

The event honored accomplishments of select members of Congress.
State Senator Robert Duncan represents District 28, which is comprised of 51 counties in West Texas. He was a featured speaker at the luncheon.

Joining Duncan was U.S. Representative Randy Neugebauer and State Representatives Charles Perry and John Frullo.
Duncan, a prospect for Tech's Chancellorship, said at the top of next year's agenda for the state is transportation.

"Transportation will be our largest challenge in the State of Texas because of the congestion we have in the urban areas, and then we have the deterioration and need for maintenance in the rural areas," Senator Duncan said. "So, the cost of that and the ongoing process is fairly significant so we're going to have to figure out ways to fund that."

Duncan said other agenda items include health care funding and higher education.
