Officer-involved shooting sends man to the hospital

A man was shot by a Lubbock police officer in the neighborhood of Duke Street and Indiana Avenue. He was taken to the hospital with serious wounds. It happened around 4:30pm. Police say the man turned and pointed a gun at the officer before the officer opened fire.

Police believe the suspect shot two people before they arrived. They are hospitalized with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Police were called to the scene by neighbors complaining of a man walking in the neighborhood with a gun. They are still at the scene investigating.

The names of the officer and the people who were shot have not been released.
