Friends and family of a 19-year-old murder victim are raising money for her funeral and legal expenses for her infant child.

Kayla Lewis was killed early last Sunday morning by the father of her little girl.

Lewis's brother, Kenneth Cross, started the event. He said it's his way of honoring his sister.

"She was very strong in what she believed in and how she should live. She really loved her child and wanted to move on and make a good life for her child." Cross said.

Lewis's friend, Alex Bridges, 18, was also killed during the confrontation.

The killer, Marc Antonio Reyes, 20, killed himself after taking the child to his parents home.

There is another opportunity to help raise money for Kayla's funeral expenses. Sunday, June 30, at Mackenzie Park beginning at 9 a.m. It's an all-day event.

This is a donation-only event.
