Lubbock's team of Salvation Army volunteers is back from assisting with tornado recovery efforts in Oklahoma.

Members say providing meals and support to the victims in El Reno and Moore was both difficult and rewarding. It was the first time Sylvia Padilla had been deployed to a disaster.

She said meeting one woman whose house was demolished made a particularly strong impression.

"She said just the weekend before that tornado he had bought her some roses to plant, a rose bush to plant in front of their yard. She goes 'and that's what was left. the rose bush.' She had it in her arm and it was just so touching."

During the two weeks spent in Oklahoma, the Lubbock team served more than a thousand meals, 18 hundred snacks and hundreds of bottles of water to the tornado victims.
