While the investigation is not complete, the death of 46-year-old Michael Eugene Wayland at Miller Park Sunday appears to be accidental. Early in the evening, members of the Lubbock Fire Department dive team recovered Wayland's body which was floating in the playa lake at the park.
A passer-by walking at the park, just south of Loop 289 near Indiana Avenue, reported what looked like a body floating in the water about 5 p.m. Investigators found a number of Wayland's belongings, including a bike, nearby.
