A capital murder co-defendant was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday. Meredith Jo Ledbetter pled guilty to the slaying of a mother and her son.

Ledbetter was a participant in the May 2011 killing of Joanie Deanne Parker and son, Derek Hale.

Meredith Ledbetter admits she was present when Hale was killed near Idalou. Ledbetter also said she led Hale's mother to the location where she was killed.

According to investigators, Ledbetter and her husband went to the location with Mrs. Parker, shot her, took her money and fled in her car.

Parker's family members were in the court Tuesday morning and told the defendant that they forgive her.

Casey Ledbetter, Meredith's husband, still awaits trial on a capital murder charge.
