A public forum in Lubbock next week will feature Republicans interested in becoming the party's next candidate for State House District 83.

Incumbent Charles Perry, who is unopposed in the November general election, is expected to withdraw from the ballot to run in that special election for the District 28 State Senate seat.

Party leaders who live within the seven-county state house district will then have to choose a replacement nominee.

The Republican forum is intended to introduce potential candidates to county, precinct chairmen and to GOP voters.

It's set for Tuesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at Vintage Township's Town Hall.
