A Lubbock County grand jury indicted a three-year-old boy's mother and her boyfriend on a charge of injury to a child. Police arrested 20-year-old Trenard Nunley and 22-year-old Candace Sanders after the child suffered second and third degree burns from hot bathwater. According to police reports filed with the warrants, Nunley was home alone with the child at the time. Reports said Sanders told investigators she tried to treat her son when she got home, then called for EMS the next day when his injuries looked worse.
Sanders later told investigators she was afraid of Nunley because he had hurt her and her son in the past.
