Lubbock organizations accepting donations for tornado victims

Two local organizations will be collecting donations for Oklahoma tornado victims this week.

The First United Methodist Church, at 1411 Broadway, will collect donations for Oklahoma tornado victims through Thursday. The church will accept limited to new clothing, Target and Wal-Mart gift cards, and monetary donations to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Kaplan College will partner with the Texas Auxiliary Committee from Wives Behind the Badge to help with recovery efforts in Moore.

Supplies needed include tools like rakes, shovels, brooms, and first aid items.

Donations will be accepted at 1421 19th St. between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. through Friday, May 24.
