Lubbock's Housing Authority reaped grant money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.Lubbock received nearly $800,000 of the $72.5 million awarded to the state. The monies will be used to make large scale improvements to public housing units.
In November 2011, Congress gave HUD approval to test a comprehensive tool to preserve public housing and other HUD assisted housing.
