Charges have been upgraded to capital murder against two defendants accused of double homicide in Gaines County. Hobbs police arrested 25-year-old Bobby Ray Ruiz. A co-defendant 32-year-old Juan Castillo was already jailed in the Lea County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
Sheriff Jon Key reports in May, a woman notified deputies that she found the door to a friend's home open, and saw a man who appeared to be dead inside. That home is very near the Texas-New Mexico border.
