Tornado warning sirens are still under consideration by the group studying city needs for a possible bond election.
The citizens advisory committee, reviewing the latest advances in that field.Bulky equipment on tall poles which give way to low-profile structures, along with satellite-directed technology are all being looked at in every angle.
Chairman of the committee, Barry Orr said it's one option to supplement other notification systems.
"In the event of a disaster normally your cell phones and your landline are rendered pretty much worthless due to congestion because of the bad weather. So we're looking at the siren system as one additional public safety issue that could be considered."
Orr said the committee has studied Oklahoma's experience with devastating tornadoes.
