District 83 State Representative Charles Perry, a Republican, made his re-election bid official with Thursday's announcement. Perry told supporters his freshman term was one of the toughest legislative sessions the state has faced.
“We balanced the budget without increasing the burden on working families and small businesses across Texas,” Perry said. “This was not an easy task. It forced us for the first time in the history of the state to actually prioritize our state priorities.”
Perry's opponent in the Republican primary is Delwin Jones, who previously had held the District 83 seat.
