Lubbock's United Way campaign, at the mid-report lunch, reports having reached 67 percent of the goal.
Lubbock County is raising funds by hosting the first ever Lubbock County Garage Sale Friday.
County Commissioner Patti Jones, who is the local government chair for the campaign, said the event is a new, interesting way to generate some revenue for a great cause.
"We're just really excited to have this this year to help raise money for United Way because we all know that a lot of the local agencies have had cuts this year and we thought this was a good idea to get some additional revenue that is not usually accounted for," Jones said.
The "Garage" is 916 Main street, formally known as the Bank of America Building, starting at 8:30 a.m.
