First responders who perished in the West fertilizer plant explosion will be honored by the first family.  President Obama, The First Lady and many other dignitaries will attend a memorial service to remember the 14 victims killed by that massive explosion.

Four firefighters who are members of the Lubbock Fire Department's Honor Guard will also be on hand to pay respects to the volunteer firefighters and EMT's who died in the line of duty.

LFD Captain Chris Hixson said it's a brotherhood.

"It doesn't really matter to us whether it is professional or volunteer," he said. "We do the same job. The fire is not any hotter for a paid firefighter then a volunteer firefighter. In fact, Lance and myself are on volunteer departments we can relate to what they are going through."

The Lubbock contingent will leave Wednesday. Captain Hixson said they plan to pitch in, and help community members.
