Texas Tech Regents tallied their final votes to officially hire new President Duane Nellis from the University of Idaho.
It was a unanimous decision. Dr. Nellis was named sole finalist about three weeks ago, but Tech had to wait 21 days before making it official per state law.
Dr. Nellis will be in Lubbock this weekend to meet with administrators.
Tech Chancellor Kent Hance said, "We've got this weekend and early next week. "He's going to be here and will receive briefings from deans, faculty and students. He's going to have a very full schedule. He is well qualified. He served as provost at Kansas State University, was Dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of West Virginia and President of the University of Idaho. He has a background very rich in higher education."
Dr. Nellis will assume the Tech presidency June 15th.
