A man has been charged with aggravated assault after police said a woman was hit by a pick-up truck Monday morning.
According to police, a group of people were arguing at Avenue V and Mac Davis Lane around 2:30 a.m., when 19-year-old Angel Guerrero got in a truck, jumped the curb, and slammed into 24-year-old Amanda Dominguez. Police said Guerrero then fled the scene.
An LPD officer reported a truck driving recklessly in the area and attempted to pull it over.
A brief chase ensued, before Guerrero was taken into custody.
Sergeant Jonathan Stewart said the alleged hit and run was a deliberate act.
"Once the arrestee left the altercation," Stewart said, "he got into his vehicle and sped away from the scene and intentionally ran into or struck this female with his vehicle."
Guerrero has been charged with aggravated assault.
As Dominguez was being transported to the hospital, offivers say an SUV following too closely to the ambulance rear-ended it.
Police say the SUV was driven by someone connected to the group involved at the crime scene.
As of Monday afternoon, Dominguez remained in critical condition and the investigation is ongoing.
