Lubbock Police investigating pair of shootings

Lubbock police investigating two shootings from late Tuesday into early Wednesday.

The first one happened just before Midnight. Police responded to a two-vehicle wreck at Fourth Street and Quaker Avenue. They found the victim, Lakarl Washington, 20, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Apparently a friend was driving Washington to the hospital when the wreck happened. Police learned the shooting happened in the 900 block of North Chicago.

Police have arrested Benjamin Henry, 18, on a charge of aggravated assault. Washington is hospitalized and is stable.

6500 Temple Shooting

A few hours later, another shooting happened in the 6500 block of Temple.

Officers responded to a call about shots fired at the Falcon Cove Apartments around 5:30 a.m. Police report one person was wounded and is hospitalized in stable condition. The victim's name has not been released. 

Investigators are following leads on possible suspects at this time.
