Long-time civic leader and businesswoman dies

A long-time Lubbock civic leader and businesswoman has died.

Marjorie Kastman died Sunday at the age of 81. She served on the boards of several local banks, and was the first woman to serve as chairman of the board of Methodist Hospital. Her legacy of community involvement includes service on the boards of the Lubbock Volunteer Center, Lubbock Area Foundation and Double T Connection.

She also served on state boards including United Way of Texas, Texas Rehabilitation Commission and Rural Economic Development Commission.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
