Lubbock residents have been receiving phone calls asking for personal information. LPD and a local bank warn that those getting the calls could be victims of a scam. They said not to give any personal information over the phone, ever.

Chelsea Salazar of People's Bank said they have been contacted by numerous concerned customers since lunch time Monday. They have reported calls from a female automated voice saying debit cards were blocked or closed and to press "one." Those who did press "one" were sent to a live person asking for debit card information.

"Your financial institution, your credit card companies, they have all that information," said Salazar. "So anytime someone calls you asking for that is a huge red flag."

Salazar said People's Bank customers have not been the only ones who have been targeted. If you get a similar call, Salazar said to hang up and call your bank to warn them immediately.
