A three-term Lubbock ISD trustee said she will run for re-election in May. Vernita Woods-Holmes has served as the representative for District Three or on the school board since 2000.In a written statement, she said her experience as an LISD teacher, principal, parent and grandparent gives her a well-rounded perspective of the needs of schools and the community. Woods-Holmes said she knows the complex issues related to increasing testing and decreasing funding for schools and has been part of the solution during her tenure on the board working with district administrators.
