The campaign to fund and fortify almost two dozen charitable organizations in the Lubbock area is proving Lubbock to be a compassionate bunch. So far, that is.
During Thursday's mid-campaign luncheon, 2013 Campaign Chairman Brad Moran announced the Lubbock Area United Way has raised more than $3.75 million, almost two-thirds of its $5.6 million goal.
As he thanked volunteers and donors for putting the campaign ahead of schedule, Moran pointed out that the remaining 33 percent could be the hardest to raise. He urged audience members to extend their reach and invigorate their efforts toward what he called a "heavy lift".
Moran, President and General Manager of Ramar Communications, the parent company of FOX 34, said, "I ask everyone to dig in and dig deep and help us make our goal. We still have $1.8 million to go, and I am excited to see what our community can do with the time remaining."
The campaign has six more weeks. For more information just click here.
