The Lubbock Libraries Board finalized its recommendation Monday for the immediate future of the Godeke Branch. It will now present its plan to the City Council, which charged the group with developing some sort of strategy for the southwest Lubbock branch after a handful of false starts.
Board members recently met with owners of the Slide Road strip center the Godeke currently calls home at a cost of $25,000 per month. Based on the discussions, the board will recommend that the council attempt to renegotiate the lease to terms more favorable to the city while continuing to search for a permanent location. That location, once settled, will be the Godeke's third.
The board will present its recommendation to the council June 13th.
