After a weekend spent looking over the 2020 Committee's list of projects to include in a $198 million bond package all the trustees say "Yae" to putting it on the ballot in November with the motion passing 7 - 0.

The money would go to four main categories: About $8 million of that is for cameras, lighting, better controlled access to school buildings and $11 million to expand high school cafeterias so kids can stay on campus during lunch, $106 million would go to academic improvements that includes $34 million for the consolidation of four elementary schools into two new campuses.

I really believe that we're giving the boys and girls the kids that will attend the new schools a better chance to be more successful.

$28 million are set aside for the third category technology. That money would help buy laptops docking units and other equipment to help better students' education.

I think a lot of people kind of discount the technology. Some people do view that as a want and I think that it's important to note that in this day and age and the way that we educate kids now that it's not a want it's an absolute necessity.

The last $39 million would go to projects falling under arts and athletics. That includes $12 million for renovations to Lowrey Stadium, $17 million to other athletics facilities,  $3 million for elementary playgrounds and seven million to improve high school auditoriums.

Every campus every child will be affected that we are planning for the future in order to make sure that our children are safe, that academics are  notch, and that our district is competitive.  We are insuring for the future of our children and it's an important thing for us to do.

For the next step in this process the 2020 Committee plans to transform into a political action committee to help spread the word to the public. Then it's up to you to decide in November.
